Irritatation Level HIGH!

I am extremely frustrated right now! The other day somehow most of our digital photographs got deleted. "Fortunately," I thought to myself, "I have them all backed up on CD's and another external hard drive." So I put all (well most) of the pictures back in their appropriate folders.

Today I was working with the pictures and found that things were not as good as I had hoped. It seems that the CDs with most of November's pictures are corrupted. The files are there. Thumbnails of the photos show up. But the pictures will not open properly.

One of the disappointments is that the girls had done a dance at church that I was hoping to post. The video I was hoping to post of that is among the items that are cyber-scrambled.

Irritation level VERY HIGH!

  1. That would be tough! I don't have any of our recent pictures backed up. I have never really trusted putting them on CD's for that reason. I have considered Picasa Web albums though since I use Picasa, but have never taken the time to do it.

I hope somehow you are able to resolve this and retrieve your pictures.

  2. Every month I burn a CD or DVD of the month's pictures as a backup. I keep the working copies on an external hard drive and in June I got a second hard drive for additional backup. It is good I had both. The 2nd hard drive was able to restore up until late June when I had last backed-up the 1st. Then I used CD/DVDs to restore the rest. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 DVDs of November pictures (a busy month of photos) are somehow corrupted. If only I had backup the hard drive more recently.

  3. SO sorry to hear that. It happened to me once too. Now, I use an external HD that makes back ups real time, but it has to be attached by USB all the time too =(. So I had additional USB ports attached because the external HD uses 2 USBs. I also use Picasa web albums.
