We received our travel itinerary today. We leave the Portland airport for the Philippines Tuesday, September 4 at 9:31 p.m. We will arrive in Manila, after stops in San Francisco and Taipei, Thursday September 6 at 9:55 a.m. Just the time in the air is over 16 hours! Then of course, there is the time spent waiting in the airport....Any tips/suggestions on how to make this trip with 11 children without losing our minds or any of them would be appreciated!
Seriously, please pray for our outreach to the Philippines; all the details including the travel. Our time here has been a great time of preparation. But we are eager to stop talking about it and start doing it!

When I was little my mom would pack jump ropes and then we would find a quiet corner of the lay-over airports so that we could get some energy out.
ReplyDeleteHello, You could get a wipe off board with a wipe off marker for each child. Then the kids can play games with each other, (tic, tac, toe, squares, hangman, etc.). They can also draw and color. If you get some stencils they can share those. You can also make your own stencils using stiff plastic or cardboard. the kids also can make mazes, dot-to-dot, and finish the picture activities for each other. If you have a notebook the kids can pass it around each adding a little bit of a story until everone has added something, then you will have a wonderful story and maybe funny too! Back to the wipe off boards, they can write a message for a kid or adult and hold it up on the plane for the person to read. I hope these ideas might help. Oh, Have each child be assigned a BUDDY, (Older-TO-Younger), while in airport, to keep kids together.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing what god does for all of you. Love, Hannah B
